A high quality sofa bed must be fitted with premium mattresses and performing mechanisms made to stand the test of time and heavy use. These are features you have to consider before purchasing a convertible sofa.
There are 2 key characteristics: comfort and the load capacity of the mattress and the seat cushions. This is no regular couch, this a piece of furniture designed as a 2-in-1: sofa AND bed. How to Choose the Right Mattress
Firm, soft, springs, pocket springs, foam, memory? The right mattress is the one that best suit your needs. For this reason our mattresses provide different degrees of load capacity and are made of different materials. When choosing your mattress take into consideration the kind of support you prefer (firmer, softer, adaptable), yours and you partner weight, the room and body temperature.
Mattress Care & Maintenance
Folding mattresses have to endure more stress than their bed counterparts. There are a few simple things you can do in order to extend their life and keep them in shape and comfy. Here's some advice:
• frequently turn the mattress upside down and turn it lengthways (head to foot). For Frank, George and Jack single mattresses, we recommend to turn them head to foot only
• do not turn Bill, Chick, Dizzy, Gil, Roger, Spencer and Willy mattresses
• it's a good idea to leave holiday home sofa beds half open when not in use, so as not to exert a constant and lasting compression on the mattress. Plus, you will allow air to circulate
• do not close the sleeper sofa leaving quilts, comforters or other thick blankets inside
• use a mattress protector when sleeping on it
Things to know
Over time, polyurethane foam mattresses can loose load capacity and shape in correspondance of the folds. However, this only happens in a limited and acceptable way, because we use only high density polyurethane foams that allow mattresses to go back, with a small degree of tolerance, to their original shape by simply leaving them open some time before actual use.
All the dimensions stated in each product card are intended with a tolerance of ± 1%. The mattress height indicated is measured from their centre; a 2-3% width/length reduction is considered normal in case of a sporadic use.
Specifications may vary without notice in case of technical and/or aesthetic improvements.
All our mattresses are manufactured to British Standard.

Memocomfort BS
The viscoelastic low resilience foam (L.R.) has been engineered and performed for the aerospace industry for the positioning of astronauts, with the aim of obtaining the maximum distribution of the compression load in static and dynamic conditions. L.R. is self-shaping: this property allows distributing the body weight uniformly on the whole surface, avoiding some parts being overweighted. Bones prominence benefit by this property, which avoids the localization of pression, first source of sores rising. L.R. comes back to the original shape even after heavy and long term pression. L.R. assures a correct body posture: a mattress made with this material assures a correct spine positioning, a right support to the lumbosacral zone and an effective antidecubitus prevention. L.R. with its completely open cells, assures a comfort and well-being feeling and helps perspiration and tissue metabolism. (Thermosensitive material: stiffening is normal with low temperature).
Top: viscoelastic low resilience foam. Bottom: polyurethane foam. Cover: terry cloth 80%CO - 20%PL, 200 gr/m2; bottom part in nonwoven fabric.
The mattress meets the requirement of BS 7177:1996 Specification for Resistance to ignition of Mattresses, Divans and Bed Bases – Low Hazard for domestic use.
